If you haven’t seen Stephanie Daley (Liberation Entertainment; DVD; 92 minutes; Rated R), then you need to order the DVD today. Stephanie Daley, which won the Best Screenplay award at the Sundance Film Festival last year, is an intelligent and powerful movie with strong acting performances (unlike most movies coming out of Hollywood). Stephanie Daley (Amber Tamblyn, Joan of Arcadia) is a 16-year-old who faces murder charges. She is accused of killing her newborn baby; however, she claims that she never knew that she was pregnant until her delivery day. It is left up to forensic psychologist Lydie Crane (Tilda Swinton, The Chronicles of Narnia) to uncover the truth. Lydie, who is pregnant, must determine if Stephanie was truly naive, deceptive or in a state of confused denial about her pregnancy. She also has to face her own problems. She has fears concerning the health of her unborn child and her marriage to Paul (Academy Award-winner Timothy Hutton), which is on the rocks.
