What do you get when you mix a missing girl, stolen diamonds and a reclusive billionaire with a Los Angeles private detective? A big bang and a good time. In The Big Bang (Anchor Bay Entertainment; DVD, Blu-ray; 101 minutes, Unrated), Antonio Banderas plays Ned Cruz, a detective who is hired to locate a paroled Russian boxer’s girlfriend and $30 million worth of diamonds she’s hiding. As Cruz begins to
collect clues, he comes across an unsavory group of characters: a Hollywood action star with a dirty little secret, a sex producer (played realistically by Snoop Dogg) and a kinky waitress. To make matters worse, Cruz has a trio of cops who are also looking for the missing diamonds. Who will recover the diamonds first? You will be guessing until the end.
Review: 4 Buckets of Popcorn. If you are a fan of the film noir genre, then you are going to love The Big Bang. Director Tony Krantz (producer of Mulholland Drive and Fox’s “24”) executes the script in a David Lynch-type way.
