Living through a recession is not easy, especially if you are laid off. There is the stress of how you are going to pay your mortgage, children’s college tuition, groceries, car note, etc. Even as a savionaire who is diligent about saving, being laid off is still a serious financial strain that can test your faith, courage and enthusiasm. In The Company Men (The Weinstein Company and Anchor Bay Entertainment; DVD, Blu-ray; 105 minutes, Rated R), Academy Award® Winners Ben Affleck, Chirs Cooper and Tommy Lee Jones portray characters dealing with the effects of downsizing. Bobby Walker (Affleck) is living the American Dream, until he is laid off. Bobby and his co-workers Phil Woodward (Cooper) and Gene McClary (Jones) are forced to re-evaluate their self-worth and what it truly means to live the American Dream.
Review: 4 Buckets of Popcorn. Strong performances from the cast and supportive cast, and a topic that makes you think about what you would do if you were in a similar situation, makes The Company Men a must-see movie. Writer-Director John Wells really captures the emotions of life after a layoff.
